Hero can be anyone. Even a man doing something as simple and reassuring as putting a coat around a young boy's shoulders to let him the world hadn't ended.
Whatever happened to all the heroes, man? I'm the last one. You hear me? The last one.
We all lose our heroes at some point.
— Do you know what you get for being a hero? Nothing! You get shot at. Pat on the back, bla bla bla. That a boy! You get divorced... Your wife can't remember your last name, kids don't want to talk to you... You get to eat a lot of meals by yourself. Trust me kid, nobody wants to be that guy.
— Then why you doing this?
— Because there is nobody else to do it right now. Believe me if there was somebody else to do it i would let them do it. There's not, so we're doing it.
— That's what makes you that guy.
We all honor heroes for different reasons. Sometimes for their daring, sometimes for their bravery, sometimes for their goodness. But mostly we honor heroes because at one point or another, we all dream of being rescued. Of course, if the right hero doesn’t come along, sometimes we just have to rescue ourselves.
And they say
That a hero could save us
I'm not gonna stand here and wait
I'll hold onto the wings of the eagles
Watch as we all fly away.
