— Would you just stay with me?
— Stay with you? What for? Look at us, we're already fightin!
— Well that's what we do, we fight... You tell me when I am being an arrogant son of a bitch and I tell you when you are a pain in the ass. Which you are, 99% of the time. I'm not afraid to hurt your feelings. You have like a 2 second rebound rate, then you're back doing the next pain-in-the-ass thing.
— So what?
— So it's not gonna be easy. It's gonna be really hard. We're gonna have to work at this every day, but I want to do that because I want you. I want all of you, for ever, you and me, every day. Will you do something for me, please...
But most of all, I'm sorry that I gave up on us when you never did.
The first rule of Fight Club is... you do not talk about Fight Club.
The second rule of Fight Club is... you do not talk about Fight Club!
Third rule of Fight Club someone yells stop, goes limp, taps out, the fight is over.
Fourth rule. Only two guys to a fight.
Fifth rule. One fight at a time, fellas.
Sixth rule, no shirts, no shoes.
Seventh rule. Fights will go on as long as they have to.
And the eighth and final rule. If this is your first night at Fight Club, you have to fight.
They didn't agree on much. In fact, they didn't agree on anything. They fought all the time and challenged each other every day. But despite their differences, they had one important thing in common. They were crazy about each other.
— It's like in the great stories, Mr. Frodo. The ones that really mattered. Full of darkness and danger they were. And sometimes you didn't want to know the end because how could the end be happy? How could the world go back to the way it was when so much bad had happened. But in the end, it's only a passing thing... this shadow. Even darkness must pass. A new day will come. And when the sun shines it will shine out the clearer. Those were the stories that stayed with you. That meant something. Even if you were too small to understand why. But I think, Mr. Frodo, I do understand. I know now. Folk in those stories had lots of chances of turning back, only they didn't. They kept going. Because they were holding on to something.
— What are we holding on to, Sam?
— That there's some good in this world, Mr. Frodo. And it's worth fighting for.
I just like to watch them all competing. "Daddy loves me the best." Aren't ordinary people adorable? Well, you know, you've got John. I should get myself a live-in one.
For only those who have slipped and fallen know the vicissitudes of the way.
If one fights just for oneself in solitude, one can’t really become strong.
Strength does not come from winning. Your struggles develop your strengths. When you go through hardships and decide not to surrender, that is strength.
There's always people in this world who want you to give up. Don't make their jobs any easier.
You know the first rule of combat? Shoot them before they shoot you.
